What do you think of when you hear the word brand? A logo, colors or maybe your mission statement? Branding for many can be super confusing and often times, because of the confusion, will be skipped altogether. This can be detrimental to a business and can actually keep a business from reaching its full potential.
Before we dive into how developing a brand can help your business, let’s discuss real quick what a brand actually is. Put simply, your brand is your reputation – the emotion/thought that comes to people’s minds when they interact or even think about your business. How do you develop that reputation, though? Through your visuals, content, mission statement and quality of your product or service.
When you put everything together, you get a cohesive brand that will help grow your business. Below are 5 ways your brand can actually help your business succeed.
Sets you apart from competition
According to the Nielsen Norman Group, viewers typically leave a website within 10 to 20 seconds. That isn’t a lot of time at all. This is where the visual part of your brand comes into play. This is your color palette, logo, photos, design elements and font selection. If your website/social media posts/ads/etc. look more visually appealing than your competitors, where do you think your audience is going to gravitate towards? YOU!
Showcases the quality of your product or service
You’ve worked hard to get to where you are today. Your products or services are killer and you 100% believe in what you have to offer, but does your audience? You may have the best [insert what you’re selling here] on the market, but if you look like you threw together a website, logo and marketing, it’s not going to match the high quality of product or service you have.
Gives your customers peace of mind when buying
Creating a brand is all about consistency. The ad they found you through online should give off the same vibe as your social media, website and ultimately, your buying experience. They say it takes at least 5 touchpoints before a person buys. If each touch point they are receiving from you (ads, emails, social media posts, etc.) gives them the same warm and fuzzy feeling, they are going to trust that when they buy, the product or service is going to give them that same feeling. Give your customers the confidence to hit that buy button!
Creates repeat customers
What happens to your customers after the buying period? Do they float into the abyss or are you continuing to engage with them? After all, 40% of customers are repeat customers. You guys, that’s A LOT! When you have a solid brand, you can implement it past the buying period. Maybe that’s as simple as the packaging or maybe you take it a step further and they receive a series of emails from you reminding them of the great purchase they made and how they’re feeling the warm and fuzzies from your product of service.
Gain new customers through previous customers
I am going to speak directly to the visual part of your brand for this one. When your customer receives your product or service does the packaging or the delivery unique? I mean unique enough for someone to want to take a photo and post it to their social media? When you have a well defined and unique brand visual, it’s going to get noticed. Your buyers will want to share their experience with your brand with their friends and family, thus gaining more customers through word of mouth.
